FAQ

How do I paint the primed models?

Most paints will work! We use a combination of acrylic, airbrush, and spray paint to finish models, as well as a clear coat to seal the paint. Don’t be afraid to try whatever medium you are comfortable with.

How are custom quotes calculated?

Quotes are a calculated based on combination of material costs, time, and level of post-processing involved. From end-to-end, getting a fully painted 3D model from a file on the computer to your hands may take hours to days. The more extra steps involved — designing, sanding, gluing, painting, and prepping to ship is a time consuming process that we take great care in to ensure you have a quality product at the end at a timely manner and within your budget. To be fully transparent, most quotes will be going off a base rate of $20/hour, with an additional $1 -- $10 added per hour for assembly, painting, and final polishing, depending on the size/complexity of the project. Payment will be in two steps: 50% upfront, and 50% upon finishing with a separate invoice at each instance.

What if I change my mind about something mid-project?

Things change, and that’s okay! We will provide regular check-ins/updates for approval on the project as we work on it to make sure everything is to your liking. However, a fee may be added on for major changes, especially if it requires re-starting and/or redoing previous steps. This will reflected in a recalculated quote and a new invoice, once changes are discussed and finalized.

What printers/materials do you use?

The Bambu Lab P1S for FDM printing and Anycubic Mono 5 for SLA printing. The material type you choose will determine the material and durability of the print. SLA printing uses resin, which is more precise and more suitable for prints that need fine details such as figurines. Resin prints will not have the same durability as an FDM print, which use materials made out of plastic compounds to add strength and/or flexibility to the end product.

Do you use AI?

Nope. Machines are tools used to help create projects, like a paintbrush or power drill, but at the end of the day everything is still designed, assembled, and finished by a human.
